Berni Whitaker

Berni Whitaker (Chair)

Appointed to the Board: July 2016
Berni currently works as an Enterprise Manager for a local council and has held previous management roles with local authorities in the North East.
Berni was appointed chair from July 2016 following an external recruitment exercise.

Stuart Blackett

Stuart Blackett (Vice Chair)

Appointed to the Board: December 2016
Stuart currently works in the pensions industry and has a background in finance. He is an Associate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
Stuart is a member of the Remuneration & Governance Committee.

Alistair Brown

Alistair Brown (Chair of the Audit Committee)

Appointed to the Board: December 2011
Alistair is a qualified accountant currently working in a Government department. He is a member of the Associates of Cost and Management Accountants (ACMA).

Fiona Coleman (Chair of Remuneration & Governance Committee)

Appointed to the Board: August 2014
Fiona works in development for a housing association and has been involved in social housing development for 25 years.
Fiona is chair of the Remuneration & Governance Committee.

David Goodman

David Goodman

Appointed to the Board: November 2013
David is a retired accountant/auditor who worked for the Audit Commission for over thirty years, progressing to regional director, focusing on legal and governance matters.
David is a member of the Audit Committee.

June Grimes

June Grimes

Appointed to the Board: July 2016
June was a Director of a local charity before she retired and worked in various housing roles with social housing providers and as a lecturer.
June is a member of the Audit Committee.

Carl Makin

Carl Makin

Appointed to the Board: 1st July 2018
Carl is a PhD researcher at the University of York researching housing law and regulation. He previously worked for Railway Housing Association during his undergraduate studies, establishing the association’s asset and liabilities register.
Carl is a member of the Audit Committee.

Chris Fawcett

Chris Fawcett

Appointed to the Board: 1st March 2019
Chris is an Executive Director working for a social housing provider. Prior to this he held both management and strategic IT related roles with a housing association and a local authority.
Chris is a member of the Remuneration & Governance Committee.

Philip Dunn

Philip Dunn

Appointed to the Board: August 2020
Philip currently works as an Executive Director at one of the UK's biggest charities and has spent his entire career working in finance.
