Established in 1919, Railway Housing Association & Benefit Fund is a registered charity (reg. no. 216825) and Registered Social Landlord (reg. no A1855); regulated by the Housing Corporation and Charity Commission.
The Association owns over 1340 units of rented accommodation located within 30 local authority areas in the North East of England and Hereford. This wide geographic spread means that the Association's biggest challenges are ensuring that we provide an equitable service to all, and establishing a presence within the local community.
In addition the Association manages 73 units of leasehold accommodation for the elderly.
The areas in which the Association has a significant presence are Doncaster, York, Hull, Leeds, Newcastle, Durham County and Tees Valley. For full details of all of the Association's properties click here.
Our core business is the provision of accommodation and a management and maintenance service to residents.
Our primary client group is the elderly. There are however some general needs properties in management, the majority of which are in the Darlington area managed from the Head Office base.
The Association employs 42 staff (including 10 ancillary staff and 3 Scheme Co-ordinators) 22 of which operate from the Head Office in Darlington.
The Association's governing body is its Board of Trustees which comprises 11 volunteers.
